Bending Grounds Controls and Movement
Typical battlegrounds inputs, camera work, and the dash habits that matter more than a lucky spin.
Movement is the difference between a Bending Grounds kit and a highlight reel. CSL Studios has not published a complete official keybind table for this Roblox public beta. Anything that looks like a full map of keys on a fan site is either community-observed or imported from other battlegrounds games. This page labels the typical defaults, then spends the rest of its words on what those verbs actually do in an 18-player server.
Play on PC, mobile, or console. The verbs stay the same: punch, dash, block, sprint, camera, and ability slots. The physical buttons do not. Confirm every bind in your own settings before you blame a combo guide.
Typical PC defaults (unconfirmed)
Community-observed Roblox battlegrounds defaults, not an official CSL table:
- M1 (left click): punch / M1 string
- Q: dash
- F: block
- Shift: sprint
- Ability keys: usually number row or nearby combat keys, device-dependent
If your layout differs, believe your HUD, not this list. Mobile uses on-screen buttons; console uses face buttons and triggers. How to Play assumes you already know which finger dashes. Getting Started tells you to lab that finger before PvP.
Punch strings and why four hits matter
M1 is not filler. Water’s published string starts with four punches, and almost every style uses the same four-hit rhythm as a glue between abilities. Throw the string in empty space until you stop clipping the fourth hit. Then throw it while walking, then while turning the camera. The combo lab is useful after that, not before.
Dash is the other half of the kit. Use it to close, to leave, and to clear status. Fire Blast can apply a 15 percent burn; dash clears it. Players who treat dash as a panic-only button eat the burn, then eat the follow-up. Players who dash on cooldown with no purpose run into walls and Air Funnels. Lab three dashes: after a four-hit, through a projected Fire Blast, and away from a Flame Kick that is already in your face.
Block, structure, and camera
Block is not a permanent shield. Earth players will plant walls that eat Fire Blast. Fire players can deflect Fire Blast. Air Funnel is blockable; if you eat it raw, you ragdoll into the funnel. Flame Kick is close-range, breaks earth and ice, and ragdolls, so a late block against a kicker is a knockout animation, not a save. How to Play covers those matchups as a loop. This page only cares that you can actually press block while moving the camera.
Camera is a control. Water’s Ice Breaker into Aqua Burst asks you to rotate the camera before the burst. If you never practise turning while a ragdoll is in front of you, water combos will look like a list of names instead of a string. Earth walls punish people who stare at their own character. Air and Chi Blockers live on acrobatic dashes that go where the camera points. Sprint exists to take space between exchanges, not to hold forever through a projectile.
Device notes
On mobile, keep dash and M1 on opposite thumbs if the layout allows it. Aqua Burst is harder without a camera flick; enable whatever assist you can stand, then lab slowly. On console, do not copy a PC number-row order. Remap dash to a bumper if you mash face buttons. PC players should turn down mouse smoothing until a 90-degree flick is boring.
This is not a substitute for the in-game settings menu. If a patch moves a bind, beta updates and Discord will hear it first. Check Air and Plant notes after those drops; movement tech around new sub-bending tends to shift even when the punch button does not.
A 15-minute movement session
Skip the 1v1 queue. Stand still and throw ten four-hit M1s. Walk and throw ten. Dash after ten. Block a friend’s Fire Blast or a training dummy equivalent if you have one; if you do not, block on a guessed timing anyway so the finger is in muscle memory. Then spend five minutes only on camera: Ice Breaker timing if you are Water, wall-side peeks if you are anyone else. That session is the real Getting Started filter. Spins can wait; read How to Spin Elements after you can dash without looking at the key.
When the session ends, open the Guides Hub. Water mains go to Hama only after Geyser is reachable without forgetting dash. Style pages under Players (Fire, Water, Earth, Air) describe kits, not fingers. The tier list will not save a missed dash. Codes still matter on day one, but unused NewAir spins are less embarrassing than unused Q. Stay off executors; script safety exists because movement cheats get you banned.
Confirm binds in settings, then ignore this page’s key letters and train the verbs. The public beta will not pause an 18-player server while you hunt Q. If Fire Blast is burning you, dash. If a wall is eating your kit, walk the camera around it or switch to a breaker like Flame Kick. If Aqua Burst whiffs, you rotated late. That is controls. Everything else is a style page.
End the night with a dummy drill, not a ranked grudge. Ten M1s, three purposeful dashes, one camera-turn burst if you have Water, one block against a projected hit. Write which finger lagged. Tomorrow, only that finger. Movement pages go stale when people reread binds and never time a dash; this drill is the part that still works after the next shutdown.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What are the official Bending Grounds keybinds?
CSL Studios has not published a full official table. Typical unconfirmed PC defaults in this genre are M1 punch, Q dash, F block, and Shift sprint. Confirm in your settings.
How do I clear Fire Blast burn?
Fire Blast can apply a 15 percent burn. Dash to clear it. Blocking or eating the projectile without a dash is how the burn snowballs into the next hit.
Why does the Water combo tell me to rotate the camera?
Ice Breaker into Aqua Burst needs a camera turn so the burst faces the ragdoll. Lab that flick on water combos after M1 is automatic.
Do mobile and console use the same combos as PC?
The verbs are the same; the buttons are not. Do not copy a PC number-row string onto a thumbstick. Remap dash to a comfortable control, then lab slowly.
Should I learn controls before spinning a new element?
Yes. Getting Started and spins both tell you to bank spins until dash and M1 are boring on the style you already have.
